Life & Family

This category covers the arrangements families run into rather than choose: leave from work when someone falls ill, the price disclosures a funeral home owes you, the paperwork that follows a death. The rules are federal and specific — the FMLA, the FTC's Funeral Rule — and the writing sticks to what those rules say a provider must do and what they leave to state law or to the provider's discretion. It stops short of telling you what to do in your own situation, because these questions are legal ones and the answers turn on facts an article cannot know. Knowing that a right exists, and what it does and does not cover, is usually the part that is hard to find.
